Those who enter this Program would do well to sit and talk with Icon of success.
Restoring Broken Lives: Finding Hope After Gangs and Prison
Life after gangs and years in prison can feel like an uphill battle, but restoration and healing are possible with determination, support, and the right resources. The first step is acknowledging the need for change and seeking help. Many people find that connecting to community organizations, mentorship programs, or faith-based groups provides a solid foundation for rebuilding their lives. These programs often offer guidance, job training, and emotional support, helping individuals regain their confidence and purpose.
Securing stable employment is also critical in the journey of restoration. Workforce development programs and companies that prioritize hiring individuals with a criminal record are valuable resources. They not only provide job skills but also give individuals a chance to prove their worth and rebuild their self-esteem. Additionally, education plays an essential role in breaking the cycle. Pursuing a GED, vocational training, or even higher education can open doors to new opportunities and empower individuals to create a better future.
Reconnecting with family and loved ones is another important aspect of rebuilding a life. While this process may take time and involve difficult conversations, trust and relationships can be mended through patience, honesty, and consistency. Therapy or counseling can also be transformative, helping individuals process their past, address trauma, and build healthy coping mechanisms for the future.
Finally, staying committed to positive change and surrounding oneself with supportive, like-minded people is key to long-term success. By focusing on personal growth and contributing positively to the community, individuals can rewrite their stories, leaving behind the pain of the past and embracing a brighter future filled with purpose and hope.
Another awesome experience we here at the Wheel to offer is counseling for those young men who has tried military life and found it to be too much for them to handle, many times when they enlist the mere fact of being broken down becomes overwhelming to a young person who has never had to do anything for themselves, and the added pressures of trying to prove to himself and family and others that he can survive this life of reshaping experience, that many will not be able to finish, not because of anything that's not in him, but maybe it what he or she may have within him or her, military life is not for everybody, just as collage life is not for everyone. Deacon, Jerry Montgomery Ret. SGM. and others are able to reflect on the building of soldiers for a life of warriors and protectors of freedoms for this country we live in.
The Struggles of Young Soldiers Who Don’t Fit Into Military Life
For many young individuals, becoming a soldier is a path filled with honor, duty, and purpose. However, not everyone finds themselves suited for the disciplined and often grueling life that comes with military service. Young soldiers who struggle to adapt to this lifestyle often face not just the challenges of military culture but also a profound sense of brokenness when they return to a society that doesn’t fully understand their experiences. The transition out of the military can leave them feeling isolated, inadequate, or lost, as they grapple with the weight of unmet expectations and the fear of being judged for stepping away. These young men and women deserve empathy, understanding, and support—not only for their efforts but also for their courage in recognizing their own limits. Society must work to create a space where their struggles are acknowledged and where they can rebuild their sense of purpose beyond the confines of military life.
